“Jenny, I have butterflies in my stomach!”
“You will be fine, Amy, just don’t worry, you won’t be pushing up daisies any time soon! Trust me, you have enough nuts and bolts to pull off this play!” Jenny said.
Amy is Juliet in the play Romeo and Juliet. Amy’s friend, Jenny, is a curtain person and a stage hand. She is not really into acting. “I really hope she doesn’t get a frog in her throat like she did last year in Rosa Parks, she totally froze!”
“She won’t honey, she is a good actress!” said Jenny’s mom.
“Tomorrow is the play, I am so nervous for her!” Jenny said.
“Don’t be. Everything will be fine. Help her when you can, okay?”
“Okay Mom, you’re right, I shouldn’t worry. It is not like I’m her mom, right? Well I am going to get in the car,” Jenny said.
“Okay, sweetie.”
Today is the play and we are all nervous! Amy is jumping around like a little bunny rabbit. “Break a leg, Amy!” shouted one of our classmates.
The first and second act she did fine. From then on she stumbled downhill like Jack and Jill! The last act when she was standing over Romeo, she fell on him. She slipped! She ran off stage crying. A few mean boys from science class came over. “Oh look, Juliet’s got egg on her face!” said one.
“Dude, maybe that’s the one she laid!”
“Go away! You are pushing my buttons!” Amy shouted, getting more embarrassed. She kept crying and crying and crying!
Soon I said, “Hey Amy, don’t cry over spilled milk!”
“Jenny, I really wish I was pushing up daisies! I think my nuts and bolts died or were never alive!”
“Trust me you are as tough as a nail! Maybe this play just wasn’t your cup of tea!”
